2 weeks ago, my 11-year-old started private school. She was so excited to wear a uniform, and this momma was excited about the deep educational and spiritual values that the school offered. I mean, she would be learning from the Bible, and there are only 14 kids in her class- this is optimum educational bliss! I didn’t have to be coaxed to load up an Old Navy online cart with khaki skirts, a pair of pants and polos–my baby was getting reading to take the private school world by storm.

She looked so cute in her khaki pants, and wore them religously. I washed and dried them. And, we were just one happy, uniform wearing family. Then, this morning she pulled those cute little skinny legged pants out of the dryer, held them up and said, “they shrunk”– and by shrunk, they were now cankle length, instead of ankle length. And, at the risk of having her sent home for school, we opted for her more conservative navy romper and polo shirt.

Just like that, with one toss in the dryer, the cute khaki’s had been dethroned from their rightful place, on the legs of my cute 5th grader. Their original purpose is no longer And, tomorrow, we will be looking to find a new, much shorter, owner. Because….. they shrunk.

It’s the timeless work of the enemy to cause you to shrink back. He knows that if he can get you to do less, be less, or expect less– he can shrink your destiny and limit your impact on the world he has placed you in.

Paul in the book of Hebrews 10:39 reminds us that we “do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and are saved.”

So, ramp up those Jesus expectations, build your faith, begin to expect and trust that God is BIG. Your job is to stretch toward him. And, when your reaching for more of Jesus, you can never shrink back!

Keep stretching toward the heavens, Jesus has a plan for you!
